Why Ganpat Gaikwad Was Arrested?
Gaikwad was arrested after reportedly shooting and injuring Mahesh Gaikwad, a Shiv Sena party member and Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA). The conflict happened around 10:30 PM, with Ganpat allegedly firing at Mahesh. Mahesh was then taken to a hospital in Thane city for treatment, and a police report was filed.
In a report by PTI, Ganpat Gaikwad explained that he used the firearm because he believed his son was being assaulted by the police station. He also accused Chief Minister Eknath Shinde of attempting to establish a “kingdom of criminals” in Maharashtra.
Ganpat Gaikwad, as reported by PTI, admitted to shooting Mahesh Gaikwad himself and expressed no remorse for his actions. He justified his actions by stating that if his son was being physically assaulted by the police inside the police station, he felt compelled to take action.
Aside from BJP MLA Ganpat Gaikwad, two others have also been arrested by the authorities. These individuals have been charged under various sections of the Indian Penal Code, including 307 for attempted murder and 120B for criminal conspiracy.
After taking Ganpat Gaikwad to the police station for a medical examination, the authorities will present him in court today. In connection with the incident, three people, including Gaikwad, have been arrested. DCP Sudhakar Pathare mentioned, “We’ve filed a case against six individuals and arrested three of them. We’re still looking for the other three.”
