Queen Rhaenyra is the only daughter of King Viserys I and Queen Aemma Arryn. Her husband’s name is Laenor Velaryon. During the duel between Ser Criston and Prince Daemon, Rhaenyra witnesses the victory of Ser Criston. His next request is for Rhaenyra’s favor. In addition, she drops a floral wreath on him and wishes him good luck during the remaining rounds of the competition. During the tournament, the spectators in the royal box learn that Queen Aemma passed away during childbirth.
Rhaenyra’s mother, Aemma, and her infant brother, Prince Baelon, are buried outside the city walls of King’s Landing several days later. Her uncle, Daemon, ponders whether Rhaenyra could ever make her father truly happy as a daughter because she will never make her father truly happy, as she is not a son like her father.
