Telugu actress Poonam Kaur joined Rahul Gandhi on Bharat Jodo Yatra in Telangana to show her support. Her picture with Rahul Gandhi went viral where he is holding her hand, Poonam Kaur, a famous actor, and students from Osmania University participated in Rahul Gandhi’s Bharat Jodo Yatra from Dharmapur in Mahabubnagar, Telangana.
BJP IT cell started trolling Rahul Gandhi with derogatory comments on social media, as usual, BJP’s Priti Gandhi posted the photo on Twitter with the caption, “Following in the footsteps of his great grandfather!” The reference here is apparently to Jawaharlal Nehru, India’s first prime minister.
Congress functionaries, including Poonam, attacked the posts and the way they were generated. Poonam clarified Gandhi had caught her hand as she nearly fell after tripping.
Poonam gives a reply by tweet “This is absolutely demeaning of you, remember prime minister spoke about #narishakti – I almost slipped and toppled that’s how sir held my hand. His concern, respect, and protective nature towards women is something which touched my heart,”
Poonam Kaur was born in Hyderabad and attended Hyderabad Public School before attending Delhi’s National Institute of Fashion Technology, In 2007, Nenjirukkum Varai was her debut project in Tamil cinema. Since then, she has worked in Kannada, Malayalam, and Hindi.
In 2019, Poonam Kaur made headlines for visiting the Katas Raj temple in Pakistan, where she tweeted, “Prayed at my most awaited #shiva temples today, never thought I would be able to perform Pooja across the border, wishing it was revived and renovated…”
Poonam Kaur has joined the Congress party after a less-than-successful career in movies. Her tweets and statements about Pawan Kalyan and Trivikram occasionally make headlines.
Bharat Jodo yatra will cover 19 Assembly and 7 Parliamentary constituencies spanning a total distance of 375 km in the state, before entering Maharashtra on November 7. Gandhi will complete 23.3 km on Friday before halting for the day at Dharmapur for the night.
The Yatra will take a one-day break on November 4, Rahul Gandhi will meet intellectuals, leaders of various communities, as well as sports, business, and entertainment personalities during the party campaign in the southern state. In addition to visiting prayer halls, mosques, and temples in Telangana, he will pray there.
