A student accused of possessing a gun left campus but has since been arrested without incident. An additional Aldine ISD police officer was called to the campus following the incident and the school was placed on secure status as a precaution.
As our top priority is the safety of our students and staff, Aldine ISD takes these situations very seriously. School officials said appropriate disciplinary action will be taken against the student in accordance with the school’s student code of conduct. Investigations are also being conducted by the Aldine ISD Police Department.
The incident comes amid the aftermath of a deadly school shooting north of Detroit, Michigan, earlier this week. Ethan Crumbley, a 15-year-old student, has been charged as an adult for the shooting that killed four students and injured seven others.
A prosecutor said the parents’ actions went “far beyond negligence” in charging them with involuntary manslaughter on Friday.
Cinco Ranch High School’s principal reported that a student was found with a gun, despite no shootings occurring locally. On the same day as the Michigan shooting, this occurred. Immediately, the student was removed from class by Principal James Cross.
